How To Lose Belly Fat

How to lose belly fatAs swimsuit season draws nearer, most people looking to lose weight want to especially know how to lose belly fat. In a December 2011 Business Insider article by Greg Voakes, he claims that Americans are even obsessed with losing weight and perhaps rightfully so; studies indicate that as many as 34% of Americans have BMI’s that require them to seek obesity help and as many as 84% of Americans have an unhealthy amount of body fat. But one should not despair over these figures; there are basic exercises that one can do, as well as some fat burning foods that can help shed those excess pounds. Some of the programs are reviewed on this site such as the beyond diet/ the diet solution program published by Isabel de los Rios, Shawna Kaminski and Flavia Del Monte.

A big concern for many people is that they want to know how to reduce belly fat with exercise that does not hurt or make them feel as if they are being punished. WebMD recommends aerobic exercise for about a half hour four times a week. However, this does not mean continuous jogging, or difficult workouts on a stair climber. In fact, recent studies show that merely doing brief periods of strenuous exertion for only a few minutes followed by intervals of less intense, moderate activity is the best way of how to lose belly fat. For those who equate working out with prolonged, unpleasant, and painful stressful activity its time to reimagine their workout routine. Continuously hard and prolonged routines are not an efficient way of how to lose belly fat. For a basic cardiovascular routine, walking at a brisk pace with bursts of jogging for a half hour is more than sufficient. These forms of activities are even recommended exercises for pregnant women.

Another basic workout tip that is helpful in how to lose belly fat is to do a brief workout in the morning. In his book The Belly Off Diet, author Jeff Csarti recommends doing a brief 2-minute exercise drill upon first waking up to give your body’s metabolism a jump start. These work-outs include brief 15 second intervals of jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and hopping from one foot to the other. Other exercises like that recommended by weight loss experts include chin-ups, forward lunges, and crunches. Many experts also recommend doing some basic weight lifting exercises such as dumbbell curls, dips, and chest press exercises. If you want to know how to lose belly fat efficiently then weight lifting can help because muscle just naturally burns fat at a higher rate than fat. This means that the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn even when you’re at rest.

In addition to exercise, eating foods that burn belly fat is an important step in how to lose belly fat. WebMD recommends eating a diet that is high in fiber. This includes plenty of fruits, green and red vegetables, and nuts. Csarti also recommends replacing foods such as white bread, white rice, which offer empty calories, with whole grain bread and brown rice, which are much more rich in fiber and iron. The reason for this is that simple carbohydrates, such as white bread, cakes, and many other sweets, are quickly broken down by the body. A person need to take some precautions however especially if you suffer from irritable bowel syndrome diet or gluten sensitivity. In general however by replacing these foods with complex proteins that are high in grains and fiber the body will more slowly break down these foods, which allows it to utilize it throughout the day converting it to energy instead of storing it as fat.

The most important thing to remember is that if you are really interested in how to lose belly fat, then the changes you make in your eating and exercise routines must be permanent. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will help you keep the weight off. Jeff Csarti, mentioned above, probably sums this up best: “There is no magic bullet, no single food, no single exercise, no machine, no pill or revolutionary diet of denial that’s going to do your work for you.” A long-term regimen of sensible eating and exercise is the best way to combat belly fat.
